The third Social Innovation Festival (The Festival) will be held from September 25 - October 4, 2015, is an annual signature event series presented by the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation (J.C.DISI), with principal support from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
The Festival comprises of a series of exhibition, lecture, symposium, workshop, salon, and public campaign in order to celebrate and promote the best creative works and practices in social innovation, including J.C.DISI’s achievements.
Design for Social Innovation Exhibition
The Festival aims to become the most popular and inspiring series of events, centering on the theme “design and society”, for both professionals and the community at large.
To invite local and international civic leaders, intellectuals, activists, and changemakers to exchange ideas and insights under the theme of “social innovation.”
To engage various PolyU faculties, departments, and centres related to social innovation.
To showcase the expertise and competence of PolyU School of Design, and the roles it plays to nurture social value in the next generation of designers.
To gather public support for social innovation. Advocate design as a form of social capital and generative capacity in elevating the use of products, service, and environment in the social and public sphere.
To anchor J.C.DISI identity and status through the curatorship and presentation of quality exhibition and events, and the preservation, archival, and sharing of cases, practices, and works relating to social innovation.
J.C.DISI is the first design institute for social innovation in Hong Kong and in Asia. The institute convenes university expertise, curates transdisciplinary projects, and constructs partnership for social well-being and common goals.
